The mission

The mission is to help clients get past the negativity that conflict creates — to get back to a place where they can focus on the more positive aspects of life.

By helping each party recognize and understand the other parties point of view around the issues causing conflict MTSS can then empower the parties to seek and analyse options towards the ultimate goal of resolution.

Mediation History

For centuries mediation has been used in cultures all around the world as a means of solving disputes.
Evidence of mediation has been found in ancient Greece, Rome and China.

In some cultures the mediator’s role was highly respected and often played by the village chief or the wise elder.

Choosing A Mediator

Are you looking for a mediator to come up with the answers for you or a mediator that helps you create your own solutions?

Power imbalances between parties are common. A trained and experienced mediator helps create balance to ensure the final agreement is good for all.

MTSS Philosophy

Each of us has strengths. Sometimes we forget that, and we forget to see the strengths in others. But all of us hold certain wisdoms, principles and abilities that make us strong.

If you must divorce please consider mediation before all else.

Conflict, at any level, is a depleting experience. Many times it may feel like your strength is being drained from you. That is why conflicts should be resolved sooner rather than later so all parties can move on with their lives, build back their lives and hopefully end up even stronger.

At MTSS Mediation we start with the belief that regardless of the circumstances that bring you to mediation, our goal is to have you leave feeling better, and stronger.

About Stephen Royes

Mediation is a better way to solve conflict and disputes - Much better.

Royes became intrigued by mediation having experienced first hand its powerful potential to help people navigate highly contentious and emotional circumstances. As an entrepreneur he immediately recognized and appreciated that there was a process behind mediation. Having known many people who lost months, years, even decades of their lives because of disputes that could have benefitted from mediation, Royes knew he had found his calling.

He brings a unique background to his practice. With advanced mediation training from the Los Angeles County Bar Association, extensive small business expertise, and studies in Cultural Anthropology and Psychology, Royes brings empathy, personal experience and maturity to the mediation process.

Royes specializes in divorce mediation and also offers dispute resolution services to individuals and businesses allowing them to achieve resolution to their disputes while avoiding the time and cost of litigation. He engages all parties in fair and balanced negotiation to help them create and implement fast, effective, and lasting solutions.

Stephen maintains a deep awareness of his clients’ needs, with a talent for recognizing and understanding the emotions of both sides. He ensures that both parties are given the opportunity to fully express themselves around the issues—that they are heard and, more importantly, understood. It is only at this point that real solutions can be put on the table that lead to mutually acceptable agreements. Central to Stephen's core values is the importance of treating clients with compassion and respect.
